Rob from Big Sky Montana

ok, you anti-slackers!
I'll bust out as many tram laps as I can before work, and I'll even do it on tele's just to guarantee that my butt gets kicked! Then I'll go do five massages.

Gena Erickson

I am willing to kick everyone out of the house while they go on their walk/run on Christmas Day, so that I can enjoy a few minutes of peace and quiet before I start making Christmas Dinner. However I may "try" to convince Katie to stay home and "help'' me with dinner.

Mama and Me

So I'll be in Chicago (Evanston, precisely) celebrating the holiday with my Mom. I'll commit us to walking along the lake for a hour, provided the wind chill is above -20. :) It will be wonderful fun to know you're all out in the cold with us. I'll try to get Mom's roommates to come along as well!

Daniel and Katie Erickson

Ok, I think that Daniel and the kids and I will walk for an hour. Since trying to run with the kids could be a little painful knowing that they run away, walking is our best option. This is a really cool idea for Christmas Day. Thanks for the motivation to get out and do something other then just sit at home on Christmas Day and watch T.V. or something lame like that.

Dad takes the bait

OK, I'll bite! I like Seth's commitment; sounds more along my line of thinking. I'll commit to do a 10K run at least, maybe a half-marathon if I feel up to it. My hip isn't 100% yet and if it still isn't by Christmas eve, then I'll commit to 5 times that on my bike.

Charlotte McFarland

I will commit to run a 10K on Christmas morning in San Jose, CA.

Friday, November 9, 2007

I will commit to running at least a 5k on Christmas. Hopefully my mother dear will join me. This should be fun! I'm excited!

Aaron Smyth

I'll commit to running somewhere between 5K and 10K. I'll be back in Utah for the Christmas holiday, so it should be fun. Thanks for the invite!

Rachel Gunderson

This is such a great idea. I have sent this on to all my friends and family and pretty much anyone else if I have their e-mail. I am going to do a 5k on Christmas morning and it will either be in Idaho or Utah. I have already started to train. It has been great. I love the way I feel after I run. Thanks for putting this together Eugie.

Eugie Gundy

I am going to commit to run 18 miles or 3 hours if the weather is good or 13.1 miles if it is cold. It should be fun! I will run Christmas Morning in Sandy, Utah.

Jay-Dub

Jay-Dub will walk/bike/ski or snowshoe which ever is most weather appropriate . For at least 30 minutes on December 24th in Sandy Utah.

DeGooyers' attempt...

Only YOU, Eugena, would think of something so fun (well, maybe not fun) and healthy to do around the holidays! =)

We'll try to get out and walk 2 miles Christmas day - if we're not in an ice storm, and if the temperature is above 40 degrees.

So consider us signed up! =)

Laura Cook - Quincy Illinois

Hey Eugena! This is Laura in Quincy, Illinois. I just finished a cheesburger happy meal and the last little bits from the bottom of a bag of chocolate chex mix, BUT, for you my friend, the training now begins! We hope to be in Quincy for Christmas Eve and Day so I'll plan to at least get out there and do a mile. That's a mile more than I have ever done before on Christmas! Love the idea, Eugie.

You are Invited....

You are invited to participate in the 1st annual Holiday Run. This run is a little different because you get to decide on the distance and the route of your run/walk. Many of us are in different parts of the world so this will give us a chance to run a race together...or at least on the same day. The reason why I am starting the blog is so we can keep track of each other and encourage each other. If you have never done a race before then this is perfect for you. If you have done many races before then again this is perfect for you.
Why is this style perfect?
No entry fees, no lame shirt you will never wear, you pick the time of day you want to race, it gives you something to work for during the Holiday season (try to keep off those unwanted extra pounds), it's fun if you can talk your friends and family into doing it with you, and it's a great way to move your body and be grateful for what you can do.

You have been invited, now it's up to you to accept the invitation and sign up.

How do you sign up?

On the top right corner of this page it has a link to 'sign-in', click on that. Then you will sign in, and use the login and password that I have sent you via email. Now that you are signed in you need to post. Click on 'create new post', and then add your post. Please be sure to tell us Who you are, where you live, and how far you are training to go. You can add pictures and stories about you training. Once your ready, click on publish post. That should be it. If you have questions email us.

I am really excited to do this with you guys. This is a great way to do your first run/walk because it is so non intimidating. If you have never done anything like this before I really encourage you to sign up...maybe you sign up to do a 1 mile run or 5k walk...or even a 13.1 mile run/walk...your options are endless. Just have fun doing it.
